Melara & Asociados was founded by Oscar Armando Melara Murillo in the year 1968. Sin its inception; the law firm was the principal legal advisor of the biggest businesses and corporations established in Honduran Territory. At the early stages of its foundation, Oscar Armando Melara Murillo became involved in politics, venture which led him to occupy important positions inside the government, including, senator to the Congress, secretary of the Congress and Magistrate to the Supreme Court of Honduras. For the year 2002, Oscar Armando Melara Facusse, son of the founder, becomes in charge of the management of the law firm, achieving a repositioning of the law firm as the leading provider of corporate legal counsel to national and international corporations.

Baterías de Honduras (Baterías Yojoa) (File Number 104-10-2003 - Contentious District Court). Transactions: 1) Counsel of a group of Private Investors in the sale of 100% of their equity participation in the state-owned telecommunications company in Nicaragua and the second cellular company in Honduras to America Móvil of Mexico. 2) Counsel of a local company in the financing of a 2320MW energy plant under the "Project Finance" scheme, including the contract of a long term syndicated loan for an amount of over US$115,000,000 and the material contracts of the Project, including the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Agreement (EPC). 3) Counsel of the largest network of private universities in the World in the structuring and negotiation of the contracts that permitted the incorporation of the largest and most prestigious private university in Honduras to such network.
